Talk 15 on Yoga Sutras of Patanjali
July 2008

Dear Yoga friends,

The treatise of yoga comes to you only in
the precious present, where in the reality unravels! We have been learning many things and finally here we are now to unlearn; to say goodbye to the mind!

Yoga Sutra 29.

tajjapah tadardhabhavanam

Then it also removes the impediments to accomplish the mastery over the inner self.

Meditation on AUM with devotion will lead to the proper comprehension of the meaning and significance of the Mantra AUM and the Lord who is represented by that sound. It in turn will lead to the identification with the Self and removes all the obstacles on the way of self realization.

"Pratyakcetan" is the Purusha who is ignorant due to its false identification with the self imposed identities and images. This false identification is the root cause of all impediments such as disease, sluggishness, negligence, doubt, laziness, lack of control, shaky state, and other distractions. These impediments are to be removed gently to get into the state of yoga.

By proper practice of AUM the ignorant will realize his ignorance and get over it as he constantly comes in touch with the source - the silence - during the practice.

It happens as meditation on AUM is done in a special way. It is done in three steps. Starting with listening and meditating on silence from where the sound originates. The meditation continues on the sound that is the sound AUM and finally when the sound is withdrawn meditating on silence that results after the finishing of the sound.

As the practitioner is constantly coming in touch with the source during his practice, he identifies with the pure self which is the witness, the base silence behind all manifestation.

While he rests in silence he remains in the all pervading oneness that is there in him as the base of his embodiment. While he feels this he is in the trance of love. He feels himself in every being and every being in him. This is the experience of Godhood. God is love and this trance of peace and love removes all obstacles on the way of self ralization. He becomes energized and all the sluggishness, laziness , excessive passions, sickness, sorrow etc. will be removed.

As he comes out of the silence he brings forward with him love and peace to his conscious mind and it will reflect in its operations. Life becomes a different reality to him. Ignorance leaves and Knowledge and Light comes to him!

Aum Santhi ! Santhi ! Santhi !

I have commited myself
to be available always for all of you and share whatever I have understood during the course of journey of my life, both in the Indian spiritual traditions and beyond, as a seeker if it is of help for you. What we need in this world is few individuals who could commit themselves to explore their own inner world! It is really difficult to find few of them. However I commit myself to be available always!
